My daughter took the SAT and will retake it in the spring. What can she do to get her score up? Tell me your best resources. :)

We just bought SAT resources at Barnes & Noble for ds to study. These are the ones we bought:

Barron's SAT Critical Reading Workbook
SAT Math for Dummies
Spark Charts ~ The SAT Critical Reading
Spark Charts ~ The SAT: Writing

Marcia, we obviously aren't there yet. :) So this is info w/out experience. :D

Dh and I heard some tips at the HS Convention last year.
The main one I remembered: Have them practice with real tests. I think there are some books that have complete tests in them.

Dh also sat in on this conference: http://collegeprepgenius.com/satprep/
They have classes around in different locations and I think some resources you can purchase if you can't get to a class.

I know that IEW also has a prep course for the SAT writing sections. http://www.excellenceinwriting.com/hse

I score the SAT essays for our local university. If anyone asks, I suggest remembering to:

- Use a standard format (3 paragraph or 5 paragraph) on their essay
- Write statements that support and give evidence of their opinion
- Write legibly and use words they know they are spelling correctly

However, my biggest advice is to write as much as they have time for. It's a fact that longer essays get more points.
