My 17yo saw that the kitchen trash can was full, and without any prompting whatsoever (the rest of us were watching TV), he took out the trash and replaced the bag.

Very soon after, I heard the vacuum running in his bedroom.

Seventeen years, ladies. That's how long it took before one of my children voluntarily did these things -- no fanfare, no hints given, no requests or reminders -- he just DID IT without being asked. Just because he saw that it needed to be done.

They really do grow up to be responsible and competent adults, don't they? Who would have thought??? :hop: <<----- me, hopping for joy, but not saying anything so as not to embarrass him.

That is super! My ds volunteered to do the dishes for me tonight and my first thought was...I wonder what he wants to go do tomorrow... :) He has yet to ask ;)

My son got up yesterday, saw the trash needed to go out and remembered he had not taken it to the curb the day before and did it!

Then went to the work notebook I had out for him where it said to do just that. But he was all kinds of proud he did so before he read the directions!

I felt the exact same way! Tears of joy! A beam of light from heaven...

My son is 15. ;)
