A few months ago, I asked if anyone knows of a resource that lists the most famous paintings. I wanted to use this as a basis for an art appreciation study. Nobody here had a list, I could not find one online, and several people also wished to find the same info.

I THINK I have found it. The Art Teacher's Book of Lists (http://www.amazon.com/Art-Teachers-Book-Lists-J-B/dp/0787974242/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1248796130&sr=8-1) includes "100 famous paintings" in the table of contents. I have ordered it through ILL, so I'll know soon if it's what I need.

Thank you so much for posting this recommendation, Wendy! It looks like a great book, and it's available through an interlibrary loan! :thumb: :hop:

We have a large, oversized softcover book (12x18) called, "The Book of the World's Most Beautiful Paintings: 100 of the World's Most Beautiful Paintings".

On the right side of every page is a painting and on the left side there is the name of the artist, title of painting and a short discussion about the artist and work.

It's copyrighted 1966, but ours is in pretty good condition. No author, just "R.T.V Sales, Inc."

You can search for it at libraries here:
