For those of you who are starting back next week, what are you starting back with?

Ds1 has been asking for Owl Moon, so I'm going to row that for both kids -- that'll be easier for getting back into our routine. :spin:

We are gonna continue with Owl Moon, and I am gonna do a marathon of *cold* books. Stopping by the Woods is next (along with Snowy Day), and then on to Katy and the Big Snow.

I have a wonderful line up (thanks to the manual and ideas from you ladies!), and I don't plan on rushing it. Our winter doesn't last long here so I want us to savor it.

Snowflake Bentley. :)

I hope we get some snow to go along with it during the next two weeks!

We will be starting The Finest Horse in Town. DD loves horses and I'm thinking of taking them on a quick trip to Maine next week, so it was an obvious pick. We'll see how the snow holds out.

I don't know. I'm too lazy to get up and check my planner.

The good news is that it is already planned and all I need to do is check my planner, grab my manual and the respective pocket folder w/ all of the stuff I pre-planned this summer when I'm ready to start. I just love the ease of FIAR! :thumb:

I'm thinking it will be The Rag Coat. I'm still a little leary of the school issue and the amount of sadness, emotional issue, etc that is in the book.

I think we are going to do a group row of Hanna's Cold Winter with the older 3 focusing on a study of WWII.

It was suppose to be Owl Moon but dd decided on Lentil because the FIAR cookbook recipes sounded better.

 My kind of kid

When you do decide to do Owl Moon, just show her these mini-Oreo and almond cupcakes. I bet you will get her attention quickly.

We are going to start with 3Rs and finishing our holiday read aloud book. I need to get the routine going again first.

I am going to prep for Hanah's Cold Winter for week of the 10th. :)

We will be starting with The Story of Ferdinand for my 1st grader and Caps for Sale for my PreK. The kids are so excited to get back to school!

I was just trying to decide what to do next. I think we will do Katy and the Big Snow. In the next two monts I also want to do Snowy Day from B4Fiar, Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, and the Winter Download n Go. Just trying to decide what order to do them all in. My dd just brought me a map she made so I think we will go with Katy and expand on maps.

We're going to finish up Katy and the Big Snow (one more day of notebooking/lapbooking) and then will start with Stopping by Woods.

We're going to read Snow Treasure -- a chapter book -- http://www.amazon.com/Snow-Treasure-Marie-McSwigan/dp/0142402249/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1294007744&sr=8-1-spell as a read-aloud for all our snow books, and I may have Katie do something "extra" with this :)

Rachel, we decided to hold off on The Rag Coat with Ds for those same reasons. We'll re-visit when he's a little older.

Amy, Ds LOVED Caps For Sale! You guys will have a blast! :)

We did a whole giving theme for the month of December and will be wrapping that up and starting off the new year with The Quiltmakers Gift. Ds specifically asked for some FIAR books for Christmas so I bought him a stack of the "wintery" FIAR stories and we're both looking forward to getting into those for the next month or two! :)

Starting with H4 tomorrow for the first time! We're going to do Katy which I think will be a very fun way to introduce him to FIAR.

Mr. T will be doing Mailing May and MIss K will be continuing on with Skylark. She wants to do Caleb's Story after that, but I don't know if I can get a unit ready for it that quick. We may have to save Caleb for after Hitty.

Blessings,
Suz

Katy and the Big Snow here.

This book is the first FIAR book I read and went . . . "ick. not for me." Then we started rowing it (two days down), and I am really enjoying it! On top of that, with all the talk of responsibilities, DD zoomed around helping like crazy tonight. FIAR magic.

I had planned to row Katy and the Big Snow this week and Mike Mulligan next week. But ... Tommy received the London Philharmonic's recording of Mike Mulligan for Christmas. Both boys love it. I suspect they will want to row Mike first.

Three Names because we got it in the mail the other day and *I* can't wait to read it. :)

We are starting A Pair of Red Clogs. I was thinking about doing Katy and Owl Moon as a review this week (we rowed them last year) along with some winter stuff, but my printer is not working and I already had things printed for Red Clogs. I think ds is going to enjoy it!

In Volume 1, we're rowing The Rag Coat. (It's surprisingly NOT sad the second time around.) In Volume 4, we've started Hanna's Cold Winter. We're on a winter theme!

Parker is leading the way and chose to do Snowflake Bentley this week. He has also pulled out Snowy Evening, Very Last First Time, Mr. Popper's Penguins, and a nice stack of books on arctic animals so I think we are covered for the month of January :D

We are doing an HHS book right now. Annika's Secret Wish. Yes I know it's a Christmas story. I was to sick around Christmas to do many of the activities we wanted. So we decided to do this book anyway. :) We are studying Sweden right now.

We want to do an Arctic/Antarctic study after that and will try to fit many of the winter/snow theme books in.

We're doing Grandfather's Journey. We love it! I lived in Japan briefly as a baby, and so I have all the mementos my parents brought back. We'll be playing with kimonos & indoor shoes later this week!

We started Mirette yesterday and I am pleasantly surprised with how much ds is enjoying it! It just goes to show that you can't always predict which books they will fall in love with.

We're having a great time with Katy this week! Hudson wanted to put together the entire lapbook yesterday but, if we do that, what will we do for the rest of the week.;)

I just heard from a few feet away, "I don't remember Geoppolis having a spaceship." Brenna is on the floor helping him make "Katy's City" with Lego, train tracks, etc. Jordan helped him get started on it yesterday. I still have the photo from when Jordan and Brenna built a master piece they named "Katy Town.":hcry:

We are on our second day of Rag Coat. I didn't cry as much today as yesterday! My girls are 7 1/2 and 9 tomorrow so I thought they could handle it better then when they were younger. Such a wonderful story!

We are making a mid-week switch. :D We were able to borrow Andy and the Circus today and dd has been begging to row it. It's the last volume 3 title she hasn't rowed.

We're doing a New Coat for Anna, which I intended to do befor christmas but didn't get round to. My DS is enjoying it and I have visits planned to friends who do dying and carding :) Looking forward to it. Plus it seems like a good one for us to do as we have wild, marauding sheep in our village :)
