These are the choices that have been presented for my Book Club. I have actually read 2 of them, but long enough ago that I would not mind (and would have to) re-reading. I am having a very hard time selecting. What would you choose?

1. The House at Riverton (http://www.amazon.com/House-at-Riverton-Novel/dp/1416550518/ref=cm_cr_dp_orig_subj): A Novel by Kate Morton
2. The Bean Trees (http://www.amazon.com/Bean-Trees-Novel-Barbara-Kingsolver/dp/0061097314/ref=cm_cr_dp_orig_subj) by Barbara Kingsolver
3. A Thousand Splendid Suns (http://www.amazon.com/Thousand-Splendid-Suns-Khaled-Hosseini/dp/1594489505/ref=cm_cr_dp_orig_subj) by Khlaed Hosseini

I haven't read any of those. After using amazon to read the first page of each, I'd vote for #1. (At least, that's how I'd vote today. I might vote differently tomorrow.)

(I'm not a huge fan of Barbara Kingsolver, though the story idea seems interesing. I've probably heard the most positive comments about Khalaed Hosseini's book. I don't know anything about #1, but the story seems like it would be a good summertime read.)

Absolutely and without a doubt, #3.
Have not read anything by Kingsolver.
Have read one Kate Morton, she's good, but not Khaled Hossein by any means. As Kathleen once said, and I fully agree with, we'd even want to read his shopping list.

I would go with A Thousand Splendid Suns and wish I could have discussed it with someone after I was a sobbing wreck after finishing it. :)

I love Kingsolver's novels, but The Bean Trees is the first of two books so the story isn't complete at the end. It's been over 10 years since I read it, so I can't remember for sure whether it would be good as a standalone novel.

I can't remember what The Bean Trees is about; it's been too long since I read it. I'm not a huge fan of Kingsolver though. I just read The House at Riverton, and it's a fun British mystery. It would be great for a book club. Then there's A Thousand Splendid Sun, which is fantastic but very deep. I guess it just depends on what your book club wants to read over the summer. Did that help?

#3 hands down.
