I paid $3.49.9 today for regular gas. This was at the place that regularly has the lowest prices very close to us. It seems very early to have such high prices. 80 cents higher than the same week last year.

We'd be happy to pay that! Most places are up to $3.76 here, which I heard on the news this morning was the current national average.

They say on the news tonight it may reach $5.00 a gas till summer. I guess we will enjoy things at home in that case!

$5? Oh boy.
High gas prices cannot be helpful in this economy!
The news here said that spending on gas is already down.

I paid $4.17.9 on Sat. at the cheapest place in town for the cheapest gas.

Don't get me started on groceries.

Cindy, any time gas goes up, groceries are sure to follow, either by direct price increase, or by product downsizing with no price decrease. Yet when the gas goes back down, I dont see a return to the lower grocery prices. Sigh.

Last weeks prices $3.50 at Costco for the cheap stuff, $3.85 for premium at Costco. $3.99 for the premium at Chevron today. My van runs better w/ the premium but I think we're going to have to start buying the cheaper stuff and deal w/ the rougher engine.

~$3.63 here yesterday. I didn't make it by Sam's club, and they are usually 10 cents cheaper than anywhere else in town.... guess where I'm going today ;) I heard the $5 by Memorial Day prediction yesteray, and it made me  The states could cut down on that a WHOLE LOT by removing some of their tax/gallon, but are they going to cut that revenue source?? Nope.

$3.679 here in South MS.

Kids weren't too happy when we said we said we'd be trying to take the Nissan Sentra (my car I drive to work, which gets closer to 30mpg) instead of the Toyota Sienna (dad's van, which gets around 20mpg) whenever we could. They will all fit in the back, but don't really like being in such close proximity to each other. However, on an average 3 hour round trip to see my family, we would save about $20 in gas.

We are paying (last time I got gas about a week ago) $3.69 for regular. I haven't been to town in a few days, so I have no idea what it is now. And I will ONLY go to one station, even if someone else is a bit cheaper.

I am working hard to try and plan events for our group for next year that do not involve a lot of driving. So many can't make field trips simply because of the gas cost.

.12 Omani Rials per liter.
That equals 31 cents/liter, which comes to $1.17/gallon ;)

Food is crazy expensive here, but at least gas is cheap.

Nedra, that is so sweet and caring of you to think of that. I'm sure the families in your group appreciate it. We have set out field trips for that very reason before. Infact if gas prices keep rising and stay up we may have to consider whether we can afford to attend co-op or not.

We travel almost eighty miles one way every Tuesday for co-op. Then if they have a field trip planned that means more gas. The one they have planned for Thursday is in our neck of the woods, but alas we have another previous obligation for that day so we won't be able to attend.

Sometimes between the cost of gas and food and supplies and field trips and things for plays or supplies we pitch in for it's a bit much. Not to mention the monthly dues, yearbook fees and yearly insurance each family has to pay. Sometimes I wonder how some larger families do it.

Oh and gas around here is $3.65 to $3.75 depending on where we buy it.

Ugh. Gas prices just STINK! I drive 40,000 miles a year for work. It's also a 25 minute drive to the closest grocery store. We plan our trips to town carefully, but it still adds up so quickly.

Two days ago I found gas for $3.59. I think it's up to 3.68 now. Just two exits north, and it's 3.78.

About 2/3 of our families do not participate in any of our events. Some aren't interested in activities, but many are and just simply can't afford it. I don't think many understand just how stretched financially our families are. A trip to McDonald's is a huge luxury for many.

The ones that do participate are very stretched to do so. We have very, very few that afford field trips easily.

I would love some ideas of activities if any of you have some to share! I am planning a Ladies Book Bunch for next year; moms meet for dessert and coffee and fellowship and kids can play in the back yard. I had this planned for every other month but am praying about offering it every month because it would be a very inexpensive event for so many to join in on.

Please share your group ideas with me!

Nedra -- I think you are very sweet for trying to plan the field trips thinking of others. I love your idea about the fellowship. Just getting together with others is a big thing.

Cheapest gas here is $3.66

Just figured out how much a "free" field trip would cost me. Well, it is about 60 miles each way, at today's prices, that puts the free cost at approx. 25-30 bucks for gas. We will not be going.

:)
