I'm asking because my neighbor wants to take my 3 y.o. and her dd. She has been gracious to agree to watch my dd while I take the other 2 on a field trip. I read the Focus on the Family review and my reaction is  I'm mostly concerned because the movie initially was rated PG. Out of curiosity, has anyone seen Rio?

Not yet. But I'm watching the post with curiosity to see how it rates among my FIAR sisters!

We haven't seen it, but Kids in Mind gave it a 2/10.3/10.1/10 for sex.violence.language.

Common Sense Media said green light for ages 6 and up.

If you go to the actual Kids in Mind review, you can read factual descriptions:

This really helps us in deciding whether to see a movie or not.

The trailer looked hilarious so yeah...I'll be watching this thread, too.

We saw it over the weekend and liked it.
Surprised that it was released here so quickly. :)
It wasn't our absolute favorite movie of all time, but nice anyway. We laughed quite a lot.
I don't remember anything problematic.
I honestly think that sometimes these reviewers read too much into movies. Kids, on the whole, I think, don't analyze movies the way adults do.
I love IMDB for reviews (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1436562/).
Here's the parents' guide (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1436562/parentalguide). Again, it went right past our heads.
Laura, your 3-year-old will enjoy it just fine, I think. Many little ones there seemed to love it. They're not going to get all over-analytical and read too much into it.

We saw it over the weekend and I wouldn't hesitate to take a 3-year-old at all. The couple things mentioned on this thread were not at all bad in my opinion and didn't scream a warning to me in anyway. I actually walked away thinking it was about time there was decent kids movie.

I agree with Negin - the reviewers analyze way too much sometimes.

Thank you, ladies. When I read some reviews, I wondered if the reviewer was nit-picking.
