DS is talking a required reading class in college. Tonight he had a substitute teacher that had the class read aloud from the textbook. DS read a page long passage before the teacher started breaking the sections into smaller pieces. After class the teacher complimented ds, saying he was the best reader in the class. He was the only student that read the commas. She also said she'd never have guessed from his articulation that he had hearing loss. (I dislike judging functionality by articulation rather than by language skills, but I digress...)

This, from a student that is nearly deaf and supposedly retarded. Considering just his hearing loss, his reading level should average fifth grade.

That is HUGE!! Praising God for parents who taught their SON, not his labels. Hooray for your ds, Shannon and Hooray for YOU!!
