Hi Ladies -

Not sure which board this falls under, but thought I'd start here. If it needs to be moved, just let me know where it went!

Tell me about teaching American History? What curriculum have you used? Why did you like it? It's best features? What have you used that just didn't fit your family and why?

Our boys have loved watching Liberty Kids; so much so that I asked the set be a Christmas gift. I'd be interested in read aloud, time line stuff, video sets, something that could be finished in one school year. My thought is that if there is an era that the boys are really intrigued by, we'll do a unit study on it and keep going with a general over view of American History.

We matched Liberty Kids up with Homeschool In The Woods Time Traveler Cds. :D The revolutionary War one would go with that show. ;)

I like the study guides from Beautiful Feet Books (http://bfbooks.com/). It is literature based with notebooking. The study guides lay it all out for you with what to read and what to include in the notebook.

Otherwise, we just use FIAR and Beyond, and lots of books from the library.

Most of ours has come from FIAR, but we did work our way through Elizabeth Foss' book list a couple of years ago. We just used the history section and made notebooks.
