what can I do with this opened can?

We ran out of milk but I didn't know until potatoes were done and mashed last night  and my hubby says, do we have any canned milk and YES we did. I don't normally buy it and this can was bought a while ago, but I opened it and just used a little.

Now I have almost a full can of evaporated milk in the fridge. What should/could I do with it in the next few days??

This takes condensed milk, not evaporated.

What I have is evaporated milk.

1/2 water & 1/2 evap milk can be used in any recipe calling for milk.

I use evaporated milk in recipes that call for cream or half and half. Mac and cheese is good , too. I make a creamy tomato soup with canned milk also.

Just wanted to mention that I read somewhere not to store it in the can. Didn't know if you had already done this, but you might want to put it in a plastic container until you figure out what to use it for. I also found that it's only good for a few days. I did some research because I had the same problem awhile back. I just googled it and found a bunch of info.

I just made a mac and cheese recipe tonight that I got off Pinterest. It called for evaporated milk. :)

With a "tall" can of evaporated milk, you make fudge. Here is how you do it. It's called "Bobby's Fudge." :hcry:

In a tall soup pot, pour the milk (add a little regular milk to the pan to make up the difference) and 5 cups of sugar. Bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes exactly, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat, and pour in 12 oz chocolate chips, 8 oz marshmallow cream, 1 stick real butter, and 1 T vanilla extract (not flavoring). If desired, add 1 C pecans. Stir, and pour into three buttered 8" square pans.

Share with friends.
