Probably most of you won't be doing the coat books until fall, but I won't remember to tell you about this book then!

It's Jam and Jelly by Holly and Nellie by Gloria Whelan. It's the story of a family in Northern Michigan. The little girl is starting school in the fall and she needs a coat and boots. The mother (I noticed she always wears a dress, which I liked, even though I don't wear dresses exclusively) starts finding berries in the woods and making jelly and I won't tell you what happens in the end. The story/illustrations is filled with nature and could be a unit in itself.

Hope your library has this beautiful book!

Sounds good! I just placed a hold on it at our library.

We just read this book this afternoon ... twice! Its very good!

And I got "Charlie Needs a Cloak," by Tomie dePaola at the thrift store the other day for 49 cents. DD listened and it was the greatest thing to see her eyes light up as she ran to get "A New Coat For Anna."
