I was out doing my nightly power walk with Ryan last night and we got to talking about DJ and his wanting to join the Navy and his life in general. He shared with me his concern that DJ was too caught up with the things of this world and finding a way to "get rich." I asked him if he had any idea what direction he was going with higher education, and his response was, "I'm not sure what direction I am taking to get there, but I already know God has called me to be a missionary." My mama heart is ready to explode, I am so happy over this! You know, I always thought DJ was set apart for the Lord's work from the time he was little, but I guess due to Ryan's autism spectrum issues, I never expected a lot from him. Just shows how wrong you can be. Ryan is going on a mission trip this summer in July, his first. Please be in prayer for him as God leads his heart to show how he will be serving.

Merilee, that's awesome! I couldn't be happier for you. Can I also encourage you that I know a man in his 30's who is a bit different (I don't know if it's autism or something else) who is a full-time missionary. I also know a lady who is on the autism spectrum and is a missionary in Mozambique. She has been there serving for close to 15 years. God truly uses those who are willing! One of my favourite sayings is "God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called."
