LOVE that! (For me, too!) I think I'll also send it to my two teens.

Two things:

If you let a child who thinks he dislikes fiction choose right away not to read fiction, he's going to miss out on a lot. Instead, I "assign" really good, not necessarily "classic" fiction to show my ds that it's not so bad. ;) Right now he's reading Jurassic Park and loving it.

Also, on the cover of The Count of Monte Cristo is (I'm pretty sure) a Rembrandt portrait of Jesus. I love this painting. I guess they used it to represent the Count? (I've never read this book, but I'm assuming it doesn't involve Jesus?) Just thought that was interesting!

What sharp eyes you have, Rebe! I did a google image search of the Count of Monte Cristo and didn't come up with any book covers showing that Rembrandt painting. BUT, I did find out that James Caviezel (http://www.rollingstone.com/music/pictures/james-caviezel-in-the-count-of-monte-cristo-20020128)starred in the Count of Monte Cristo movie and also played Jesus in the Passion of the Christ.

 Weird.

It's like playing Six Degrees of Separation with ... Jesus. Definitely weird.

I love that painting so much that I have a postcard of it hanging on my mirror. It's how I "picture" Jesus. My great-aunt has an ancient KJV Rembrandt Bible, with many of Rembrandt's paintings throughout, and that's where I first saw it. Then I found it in a postcard collection from Dover. So I went to great lengths to find that painting!

It reminds me of the SciFi/Fantasy chart (http://www.sfsignal.com/archives/2011/09/flowchart_for_navigating_nprs_top_100_sff_books/).

The link is broken when you click on the chart. I'd love to see it. Anyone have a link that works?
